About Lisa

If I were to define myself with two words, they would be: “adventurous dreamer.”I have lived life pursuing my dreams, sometimes in the face of great adversity, and continue to do so while I assist others who wish to overcome the challenges and obstacles life places in their path.

From overcoming panic attacks that lasted throughout my teen years, to U-hauling my belongings in a trailer behind my jeep in a move from Alberta to BC in my twenties, to hiking the West Coast Trail, and exploring the Mayan Ruins in the jungles of Guatemala, to parachuting from a plane solo and having to deal with a twisted chute, to learning to sail, to completing my Master’s Degree as a working single mother, to mourning the death of my brother and seeking meaning through my work and in writing a novel, to travelling throughout North America and to parts of the Caribbean, to letting go of working for others and starting my own business, to completing my scuba diving certification and learning how to paddle-board this year, I have learned to stare fear in the face, say “Hello” and then gently move past her as I work to create the life I want.

You can too. And I can help you do that.

My work experience includes:

  •  Contract work with numerous organizations and private practice work with adults and adolescents in the areas of addictions, trauma, couple’s work, anxiety, depression, workplace issues, self-esteem, grief and loss, pre and post separation and divorce, adolescent issues, domestic violence and women’s issues, perfectionism, stress management, life transitions, adult giftedness issues, assertiveness, relationship issues, and personal growth.

I’ve worked with youth and adults who’ve endured, survived and learned to thrive despite walking through some of the most horrendous experiences imaginable. Life can place some major challenges in our way. It is our response that shows our mettle, our mistakes that help us learn, our moving forward with hope that hints at our strength. Sometimes we can use someone to walk beside us, to help us to see things in a new way, to support or encourage us when we are tired or feel like giving up, to open a doorway we hadn’t seen, or give us a tool that will help in our task. That’s where I come in. That’s where counselling can help. You don’t have to climb that mountain alone.

Me and Reece will join you. The power of two is always greater than the power of one.

Dogs have been always been a part of my life and I’ve had the joy and honor of providing a home for some exceptional animals. Without question, I believe in their powers of healing. Their ability to love unconditionally far surpasses that of humans. They never say the wrong thing. And, if you’re not afraid of them, they can help lower your blood pressure, calm you down, and make you feel good. If you are afraid of dogs, we can help with that too. Everyone should be able to share the happiness and love they bring to the world, and Reece will be happy to provide you with an extra bit of that. :)
