Born and raised in Alberta, Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Psychology from the University of Lethbridge, graduating with distinction. Lisa began working in the community of Lethbridge as a youth worker prior to her graduation and remained with the same organization for 9 years, serving them in a variety of capacities, her work focusing on assisting at risk children and youth. Her work experience in Alberta included: working with at-risk and abused children and youth referred by the Ministry for Children and Families, working as an adolescent outreach worker (a program developed by her in conjunction with school liaison workers), and working as a clinical coordinator of an aboriginal group home.
Being somewhat of an adventurous spirit, Lisa then decided it was time to give up the winds in Lethbridge in exchange for the rains along the BC Coast. Since moving to BC, Lisa has worked for various non-profit agencies in the communities of Abbotsford, Surrey, and most recently White Rock. Her work has included family mediation and outreach work, street youth work, working with pregnant and parenting teens, addictions prevention work, addictions counselling with adults, and contract and EAP individual counselling with adults. Lisa has developed and facilitated presentations to schools, community agencies and organizations on varied subjects and along the way received her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from City University.
Lisa has worked successfully with clients from a broad range of backgrounds and circumstances and this success has been reflected in consistently high client evaluations of her service. Lisa continues to upgrade her skill and knowledge base, participating in professional development whenever possible. Lisa believes that a strong positive connection is a key factor in counselling success and focuses on assisting her clients to feel comfortable, safe, and at ease during the counselling experience.
